We sell a small range of lateral flow tests at cost to UK pigeon rescues. We are also happy to supply them for a small profit (with all proceeds funding our work and that of UK pigeon rescues) to private keepers of rescued pigeons. We do not sell tests to anyone who exploits pigeons through breeding, racing, showing etc. 

Test Caveats

These lateral flow test kits were originally manufactured for human or companion animal diagnostic use. We supply them for use in pigeons for welfare assessment purposes. Performance characteristics and accuracy in pigeons have not been formally validated by the manufacturer and results should therefore be interpreted as indicative and not definitive. Treatment decisions should take into account clinical signs and, where appropriate, veterinary advice. If the test result is negative and clinical symptoms persist, additional testing and/or veterinary consultation is recommended. A negative result cannot rule out the possibility of infection as particles are shed intermittently and for a limited time.

These kits must not be used for the purpose of diagnosing human disease.

Returns Policy:  

You have the legal right to change your mind and return unopened test kits within 14 days of delivery. A refund of the purchase price only will be issued once the item is received in resaleable condition. You are responsible for the cost of returning items.

For hygiene and safety reasons, we are not able to accept returns of opened or used tests.

If a test is faulty (e.g. the control line fails), please provide photographic evidence to verify the fault. We will either:

• send a replacement test at our cost, or
• issue a refund for the faulty test and a proportionate share of the original delivery cost (for multi-item orders).

Storage

• Keep the tests in their individual foil pouch until you are ready to use them.
• Use the tests before their expiry date.
• Store the tests between 2 and 30 degrees Celsius.

Safety & Hygiene

• Test kits contain products of animal origin and the absence of transmissible pathogenic agents cannot be guaranteed.
• Please use suitable PPE (such as gloves and eye protection) when handling samples and using the tests.
• Do not eat, drink or smoke in the area where the samples and kits are handled.
• Buffer liquids may react with lead or copper plumbing – when disposing of buffer or diluted samples, always flush with copious quantities of water.
• After use, it is advised that you treat the test with household bleach for one hour before disposal.
• Wash hands thoroughly with soap and warm water after handling.
